Are Blogs Good For Marketing?

A few years ago, there was an uproar about whether or not blogs were effective marketing tools. Some said that they were worthless, while others argued that they were just as good if not better than having a website with a store attached.

Now, several years later, we have to ask ourselves if that argument has been silenced once and for all? Is blogging still a worthy investment of time for businesses looking to connect with their customers and grow their online presence?

I believe that it is!

Blogs are one of the most powerful forms of content you can create for your business. They help you stay connected to what’s happening in the world around you, showcase your expertise, and increase your SEO (search engine optimization) rankings.

Most importantly, they promote engagement. People love reading blogs, so giving them a place to do so will boost engagement on other sites you own (like yours). This interaction creates value for both parties and helps strengthen relationships.

With this strong reputation, I think it’s safe to say that bloggers now enjoy much higher recognition and credibility than they did back when the debate raged. As such, I’d like to suggest that every business should give blogging a try.

But before you start writing, make sure you understand the basics of how blogs work – what makes a good article, how to use links effectively, and more.

No, they’re not as effective as they used to be

Many business owners seem to think that having a website and posting content on it is enough to win customers or generate sales.

This isn’t true anymore.

The era of the self-marketer has come to an end. You will need more than just a web page and some advertising skills to succeed in marketing online.

You will have to invest time into social media, influencer marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing, and more to achieve your goals.

In fact, SEO alone can cost up to $1,000 per month these days!

Blogging was one of the first ways that marketers needed to learn this lesson. Once upon a time, anyone with a decent amount of money could start their own blog and use it to gain followers and market products.

But now, the quality of blogging out there is pretty poor. It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t do any kind of paid promotion on their blogs, which is definitely not going to help you reach your marketing goals.

There are also lots of people trying to become “famous” through blogging, which may appeal to them but won’t necessarily work for you.

So what about all of those successful bloggers? What made them famous before?

It's no coincidence that many top blogger brands include rich families, big sponsors, and large followings.

Yes, they are still important

Many people make the argument that blogs are outdated as a tool to market your business or product. They say that since everyone has access to a computer with an internet connection, then there is no need to have someone else write about your company or product.

This theory is completely wrong!

Blogs remain one of the most effective marketing tools out there because they can create a very personal experience for your reader.

You see, when you read a blog written by someone else, you get the feeling like it was done for you. The writer seems like they wrote specifically for you, their audience.

With this sense of intimacy, readers become more inclined to do business with you than otherwise. This happens because they feel like they know you, and thus trust you more.

There are also social benefits to reading blogs. By leaving comments and sharing the article with friends, you strengthen the relationship even more.

No, they aren’t as easy to start as you think

Starting your own business can be fun, but it doesn’t always lead to success – which is totally understandable. As much as we would all like to run our own show and take control of our destinies, that just isn’t possible for everyone.

It takes a lot of work to get up and running, and there are no guarantees in this industry. It’s not a matter of if things will go wrong, but when.

That being said, starting a blog is a great way to launch your marketing career or re-launch your current one. A well designed, interesting blog with good content is an excellent way to draw new readers, improve your SEO, and increase traffic to your site.

Blogging has become very popular, so there are many ways to make money online from blogging. The best way to do this is by creating engaging content people want to read and then monetizing that content via advertisements, sponsored posts, and other revenue streams.

Yes, they can be expensive

Even though blogs have grown in popularity, some marketers feel that it is too cost-effective to contribute to their success. Some believe that you cannot get enough exposure through blogging unless you are willing to invest more money into it.

Blogging is an excellent way to market your business or product! It’s just not necessarily the best way for every business to thrive.

You should consider investing in blogging if you want more exposure for your company and career. You will need to determine how much time you have to devote to writing posts and interacting with other bloggers, but spending a little money now could save you lots of cash down the line.

Some ways to improve your blogging effectiveness include: start linking from external sources, use catchy titles, link to relevant content, and emphasize what benefits you offer for your readers.

Yes, they can be time-consuming

Starting your online business with a well designed, interesting blog is great. It creates an accessible website that people look at to learn more about you and what you offer.

But just because blogs are such a powerful tool doesn’t mean every entrepreneur needs one immediately. Some don’t need the extra attention it takes to run a successful blog, so they stick with what has worked in the past.

Blogging isn’t a passive activity — you have to make sure you’re giving meaningful content every day or the reader will stop coming back. This could hurt your business in the long run.

It’s important to remember that even if you never publish a word on the internet, having a strong social media presence is still extremely valuable. Your followers will spread your message for you!

So, whether you're starting from zero like me, or you've got some momentum going, consider putting off blogging for now but definitely not forever. You'll want to find a balance that works for you.

Yes, they can be hard to start

Starting a business with no presence online is very difficult. You will need to invest in a good computer, internet connection, smartphone, and of course, a domain name.

Blogging is a medium that has grown in popularity over the past few years. It does not cost anything to start writing a blog, you only need software to create your website.

Many people use free blogging services like Tumblr or Both of these offer ways to monetize your site, such as creating an account with Google Adsense or Patreon.

Monetizing your blog means getting paid per click or monthly subscription fees for the content you provide.

No, they aren’t as easy to update as you think

Changing your business model is never fun, but it's important to do if you want to stay in business. Having run several businesses myself, I can tell you that keeping up with trends is one of the biggest costs thieves in this industry.

Running a business means there are always new things being done, technology changing, strategies emerging, and people doing them better than others. It's hard to keep up when other companies don't seem to be and it cost money to find out what works and what doesn't.

Blogs are not going away any time soon, but creating an interactive way to communicate like this does make it more difficult to implement into legacy marketing methods. People will still talk about products and services, just not in the same structured way blogs allow.

Yes, they can be very effective

Recent studies show that nearly half of all internet users now access the web via a mobile device, making it important to consider how you approach marketing towards this audience.

Blogs are an excellent way to connect with your audience, especially if you’re looking to reach out to new people or increase engagement with current customers.

A recent study found that one in three online adults look at products within their category on a monthly basis, and another survey determined that most people spend around two hours per week shopping.

That means there’s plenty of opportunity to promote brands through blogs!

Many businesses don’t use blogs effectively, though. It's not enough to simply publish a few posts once a month – you have to put time into writing meaningful content every day.

It also takes more than just having a blog to make it successful. You must actively manage and update it on a regular basis.

What is SEO (search engine optimization) and why is it important?

SEO is an integral part of running a successful blog. Without it, your readers won't find your blog when they search using a search engine like Google, which contains the vast majority of Internet traffic.

By optimizing your site for search engines, however, you can ensure that your content gets seen by potential visitors. This is called SEM (standardized search engine messaging).

It's crucial to understand the basics of SEO before starting to write.
