Most businesses that fail are not because they were too broad or didn’t include enough people, but because they included the right number of people, BUT THEY WASN'T INCLUDING THE RIGHT NUMBERS OF PEOPLE.

You see, there's a reason most big corporations have their own internal marketing departments- it gives them the ability to identify and connect with their ideal customers.

And we're talking about those kind of companies here - ones that have solid sales, profits, and customer satisfaction under their belt. Companies that know what they're doing.

If you already have some kind of website, like a personal profile or a small business, you can use that as your starting place to make it more professional. Many people begin their career by creating their own website – this is totally viable!

But if you're in the process of building out yours, don't worry about what platform you should use yet! There are plenty of free alternatives to consider first.

Build a social media presence

As we mentioned before, having a social media profile is an integral part of any successful business. If you are thinking about starting your own, this article has some helpful tips for you to consider!

First, make sure your username is unique so that people can easily find you online. Try using their real name or adding an initial to your first name or last name – like “John Smith” instead of just “Smith”.

Second, pick a platform that makes sense for your business. This will determine what kind of content you share and how many followers you have.

Third, be careful not to overdo it when posting. People will start ignoring you if you keep sharing too much material, especially if most of it is self-promotional. Use good quality pictures and videos to enhance your posts, but don’t spam away all of your limited space.

Last, stay organized! Make use of apps such as Hootsuite or Buffer to manage your accounts. These track everything for you, making it easy to access and update at a time that fits into your daily routine.

You can have free things like snacks or drinks, but it will cost you to hire someone else to do their job (creating content for your website or social media platform). Or you can pay them to help you spread your message even more!

There are many ways to hold an event, from having a sale during our weekly grocery trip to celebrating an anniversary by offering discount tickets or t-shirts. The key is to brainstorm fun ways to connect with your audience while promoting your company.

Identify your unique selling proposition (USP)

A few years ago, I read an article about how to make people like you more, which really stuck with me. The author called this tactic ‘humanizing’ or ‘bringing out their inner human being’.

He described it as creating emotions in others by showing them things they have done before and teaching you about these experiences.

This is what his company does – they help you find the emotional buttons of other companies and products and then tweak them for your own product or service.

His examples were telling stories about yourself, using keywords that appeal to humans, and keeping it fun. He also mentioned practicing empathy, which we will talk about later.

Here are some examples he gave:

Your parents loved you, so why not use those memories to create marketing content that appeals to children?

Your friends admire you, so tap into that energy to inspire others.

Your colleagues adore you, so use that as inspiration to promote your career.

We can learn from those around us, so look at what successful people do and apply those lessons to your life.
