With the explosion of mobile phones today, there are now more ways to connect with people than ever before. You can send messages via WhatsApp, Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, and even text-only messaging apps like Telegram or Line.
But what most people don’t realize is that some apps have a feature that allows them to receive unwanted marketing texts from vendors or companies. This is not only annoying, but also expensive for the vendor sending the message!
It’s important to be aware of this so you do not get tricked into buying something you did not want nor need.
Recent developments for smart phones have allowed users to block or prevent certain types of messages from being displayed, read, and interacted with. With the explosion of mobile technology, people have found ways to stop junk messaging.
Some individuals find it too annoying when their phone constantly alerts them about new messages, advertisements, or surveys. Since many apps now require permission to send messages, some users will grant permissions only to make sure they are never asked again!
By blocking these messages, your device will no longer alert you when they come through. This can also prevent zombies from contacting you so that you do not get disturbed by constant notifications. It is best to try this out if you feel overwhelmed by all the messages.
The Messages app is located at the top of your home screen. It’s usually accessed by holding down the Menu button and selecting Messages, but you can access it directly from the home screen too!
If you want to completely block all promotional messages, you will have to do that here.
You can either turn off receiving messages or turning off sending messages depending on whether you would like to keep track of what messages people send to you, or if you don’t care about that (which is probably the better option), then you can choose to disable sent messages only.
However, this won’t work if you wanted to read messages because you’d still be able to get through direct messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Viber, etc.
The first step towards blocking marketing messages is to open the Settings app on your iPhone. Then, look for Messages under Privacy. Here you can determine if you want to allow message previews or not!
If you would like to block all text messaging advertisements then uncheck “Allow Previews”. This will prevent people from sending you ads but will also remove some basic features of texting such as saving conversations and deleting users.
You may also choose to only permit one-time messages or no new messages at all. All of these settings apply system wide so anyone using your phone account can override them.
The next thing you will do is press and hold the Menu Button. You can now see that there are several buttons under this main button.
The first one we will look at is Settings. When you have pressed and held the Menu Button, then open the Settings app, you will find it here!
Now that you know how to block marketing sms on iphone, try looking through some of these settings to prevent advertisements from appearing or disappearing while you use your device.
If you are looking to avoid marketing messages in the form of text or chat invitations, let me tell you how to do that! It is very easy if you know what tools Apple offers.
Firstly, you need to make sure that you have removed all third-party applications from your iPhone. You can do this by going into Settings -> General -> Reset -> Delete Apps. Once completed, you can reinstall any missing apps easily.
Secondly, look through the settings for the Messages application. There may be an option to “Enable Message Previews” which allows Messages to show preview content of messages. If there is such an option, turn it off. This will prevent pre-filled messages from showing up.
If you would like to remove some specific types of messages, then go into More > Categories and choose the type of message you want to get rid of before clicking Remove.
The next step is to look through your conversation threads until you find the one that contains the annoying message. Once found, choose to “block” or “silence” it!
You can either silence the message completely so you never see it again (but other people may still receive it), or you can toggle the message off so you only see a small drop down box with an option for “Silent.” You then have to go into the settings of whoever sent the message to turn on their mute feature before they are able to send another one!
It is very important to be careful which messages you chose to block because some companies will try to get around this by sending an announcement email instead. Make sure to check your emails and phone apps frequently to make sure nothing has changed.
The next thing you will need to do is press and hold onto the message while it is previewing or composing. This will then ask if you would like to delete this message, move it to voicemails, archive it, or keep it as normal.
You can now easily manage your messages via the iPhone app called Messages. Here, you can view all of your conversations, listen to recent recordings, and even download them as MP3s!
If you find a spammy or annoying call or text very frequent, you can also report it to get rid of that mess. Unfortunately, there is no way to completely remove advertisements from the phone number itself, but hopefully these tips help reduce the amount of advertising you receive.
The most common way to receive an unsolicited marketing text is when a company messages you with what they consider to be important information. It is typically referred to as a “sponsored” or “promoted” messaging service.
A sponsored messaging service sends you a special message that contains a link to a product or website. They pay for this advertising space so it does not cost you anything to accept their message.
Some people may feel overwhelmed by the amount of advertisements they get due to the nature of mobile phones which are designed to be accessible at any time. It is easy to unsubscribe but there is no guarantee you will ever see the same ad again unless you re-subscribe to the service.
There are many ways to block these types of messages on your phone.
