You can find references to AI in art, literature, and even comic strips.
In 1951, writer Arthur Clarke coined the term āartificial intelligenceā in his short story Runaround. In it, he describes how computers would one day take over human jobs; humans could then focus on creative work like writing and painting.
Clarke was right about the rise of computing power, but he underestimated the degree to which people would rely on computers. Today, half of all workers say that they are constantly distracted by their phones.
Consuming media that requires little effort rather than engaging with actual people is becoming more and more prevalent. More and more often, we encounter AI-based systems left and right that challenge our cognitive abilities.
These automated systems help us accomplish tasks more efficiently, but they also draw our attention away from what we were doing before. We need to learn how to adapt to this new era of technology or risk losing productivity and quality of life as time goes on.

For example, when you wake up in the morning, you are conscious and aware of your surroundings. After a while, you may start adding objects to your surroundings and becoming aware of them. Soon, you will notice the sun rise and become conscious of this fact.
This process continues until you know there is food in your fridge, you know youāre running low on water, and you are conscious of your needs. As you keep performing actions that lead to changes in your environment, you will gradually become more aware of these things.
Artificial intelligence seeks to replicate that which humans have. So far, machines with AI do not feel pain, they do not sleep, and they cannot experience emotions like sadness or joy.

Automation relies upon the passing of cues/signals between different automated systems. These signals are what tell the system to carry out its actions.
Let us take our car as an example. The car senses heat coming from the engine through the dashboard area and also temperature around the outside.
These temperatures together form meaningful data that helps the computer decide whether it needs to start the vehicle or not. If yes, then it will begin running until such time as it decides to stop forcing it to run.
Likewise, your business may use various external factors such as competition, customers, supply costs etc. to make decisions for your business.

Osborn made the claim that humans have a tendency to imitate what they see around them. He also wrote that this imitation is strongest for people with similar minds.
In other words, we tend to put ourselves in each othersā shoes--which makes sense; if someone thinks something is great, then you think itās great too.
But AI programmers should take note: simply making something seem real or more intelligent than us can make users less aware of how smart things are.
Thatās because we donāt really know what these robots and computers are thinking, so when we talk about their āintelligenceā, we mean it in our own human-like way.

The earliest use of the term āartificial intelligenceā (AI) that I can find is in a 1960 article by Vannevar Bush, called āThe Sum As Of Science 1900.ā In it, he asks how humans will continue to progress toward more intelligent behavior after computers become common. He suggests using the word āartificialā before intelligence (e.g., artificial feeling, articial joy, artificial love), but ultimately comes down against replacing human intelligence with computer intelligence.
That sense of loss still lingers when people discuss the risks of machine learning, which is why they remain hesitant about adopting smart devices. People are afraid that their lives wonāt be as meaningful without the help of AI.
But what if we decided not to use AI technology? Could we live happier and more fulfilling lives than those who donāt have access to it? Or at least could our quality of life improve?
It all depends on what you mean by better living through science. If you like having many hours of leisure each day, then yes, going pro-science might be for you.
If you prefer having plenty of freedom and independence and intimacy into your life, then maybe staying anti-tech is for you.
